Kaže moj frend GPT:
Is it correct to conclude that Intel actually net earned €515 million from the European Commission since it returned back €1.06 billion + default interest of €515 million?
ChatGPT je rekao:
Yes — it is mostly correct to conclude that Intel net received about €515 million from the European Commission after the original €1.06 billion fine was annulled, but with an important nuance:
📌 What happened in the old case
The European Commission originally fined Intel €1.06 billion in 2009 for alleged anticompetitive conduct. Wikipedia
Intel successfully challenged that fine in court, and most of it was annulled in 2022 when the General Court found flaws in the Commission’s analysis. curia.europa.eu
Because Intel had already paid the fine and the court scrapped it, the EU had to refund the amount Intel had paid.
In addition, the EU was legally required to pay default interest on that refunded amount for the time it held the money. Intel sued for that default interest. Investing.com
📌 What Intel actually got back
The default interest payment the EU paid Intel was €515.55 million on the annulled fine. Investing.com
📌 Net “earnings” perspective
So from a purely cash-flow perspective:
Intel originally paid the EU €1.06 billion (which was later refunded).
The EU returned that €1.06 billion after the fine was annulled.
And the EU also paid €515.55 million in interest for holding Intel’s money all those years. Investing.com
Thus, Intel effectively got back what it had paid plus €515 million — the interest — which is money Intel received beyond just being made whole. So saying Intel net earned €515 million from that specific old fine’s reversal is a fair summary, assuming you are referring only to the interest portion, and not counting the original refunded principal.

Nije ni cudno sto nema velikih tech korporacija u EU.
Kompanije gube profit i bez kazni.
Znaci krecu u 2026/2027 spremni i puni ko brod
