Hello Commanders!
We’ve received a lot of feedback requesting cargo storage, specifically for engineer commodities. We’re investigating a few options, and we’d love to get your feedback before we make a final decision, so I’m posting this thread to gather your thoughts.
To clarify, the issue at hand is that many blueprints require one or more units of a special crafting commodity, gathered from in various activities, which means you have to have cargo space available when you want to craft upgrades for your modules.
This forces any player interested in crafting to A) always fly with a ship that has cargo space, and B) have an amount of that cargo space committed to carrying crafting commodities.
Our plan was to introduce crafting commodity storage, which would allow you to collect and store crafting commodities at Engineer bases for use in crafting at a later date. This would mean that you would only need to fly a cargo-capable ship when you were actively engaged in collecting the commodities, and could store up commodities to allow for multiple crafting attempts in one sitting.
However, examining the current schedule, it’s looking like this feature will not come online in the time frame we’d like, so we are considering our options:
A. Wait it out and get crafting commodity storage at a later date.
B. Temporarily remove crafting commodities from blueprints until crafting commodity storage comes online.
C. Temporarily allow various starport markets, potentially even Engineer markets, to sell crafting commodities until crafting commodity storage comes online.
Our current thoughts are to go for option B, but we’d love to hear your thoughts on this choice, so feel free to discuss in the thread and let us know which option you’d prefer, and why.

Našao ih u independed sustavu. Inače je high emission, ne encoded, civil unrest i moraš biti u deep space-u ;) U fed sustavima ćeš naći core dynamics i propriarety. Nabrao i jednog i drugog :)

Pa da, nešto u tom stilu. :) Ma o tome se priča već godinama, samo što i dalje nisu bili konkretni sa izjavama.
Baš sam neki dan gledao Archon Furyev stream. Lik je kvalitetan oldschool solo PvPer u silent DBSu, koristi PP za roleplaying PvPa i komunicira u chat razlog interdikcije. Napada samo u PP sistemu protivničkog powera, i to isključivo combat brodove višeg ranga ili tradere koji imaju bounty.
Praktički mu je svaki fight završio s combat logom protivnika, čak i situacije u kojima ekipa interdicta njega pa počne dobivati po nosu. Stvarno je izmaklo kontroli.

Engineer Commodities (storage)
They have decided to remove engineer commodities from all blueprints. It is not clear if current purchasable commodities like Magnetic Emitter Coils will still be used in blueprints, but they said "no commodities in blueprints" several times.
Also, mission reward commodities will remain in the game, and might be used for community goals. They are still very interested in providing storage, but other features have taken priority. They briefly mentioned Unknown Artifacts as something you might be able to store in the future.
Additional Engineer Blueprints
They think combat mods have had enough attention, and want to focus on other items next release. Tentative changes for 2.3 are ship sensors, utility scanners, and discovery scanners. Mining mods are also on the list, but lower-priority.
Exquisite focus crystals
Confirmed bug, and they are indeed missing from the game!!! There is a fix that needs to go through QA, and it will be released with the beta.
Module special effects?
Yes, but no ETA. Drives, Shields, and FSD are top candidates for engineered specials.
Each grade 5 upgrade is exclusive to a single engineer, will this change?
There is no technical reason why it can't (ambiguous answer)
Lightweight weapon mods
They like the suggestion of lightweight mods helping weapon tracking speed, nothing confirmed

Focused weapon mods
This mod will get increased armor piercing and increased breach chance. These are two separate attributes that people sometimes confuse.
Armor piercing is effectiveness against hull "hardness" and breach chance affects the chance of damaging internal modules. Higher armor piercing mostly reduces the penalties of smaller weapons against harder (larger) hulls.
Migrating existing mods (re-rolling)?
Reiterated that you will not need to reroll, and they will try to do it in a fair way. They want feedback with specific examples and concerns, so they can properly balance.
Marco Gwent will have all mods available during beta, and a market with fish, and all modules, and all ships.
Open play getting a bonus in Powerplay?

Combat logging penalties?
They cannot do classic server-based game protections, like keeping your ship alive if you disconnect. Instead, they want to have a Karma system that does stat tracking. No ETA.
Karma system should track if you get disconnected during combat often, or are a "griefer," Frontier could then act on that. This system does not exist at the moment. Editors note: I find this surprising, since it contradicts claims that Frontier was already doing some kind of instrumentation for combat logging.
Crime: Current top contenders are to add Pilot Federation bounties and Interstellar bounties, and adding criminal's rebuy cost to bounty fine. Also, high penalties at top "karma and crime" levels, including no docking permission anywhere except Anarchy, attacked on-sight, etc.
Overall, Karma and Crime updates will be a lot of work, and they think it's very important. There is no ETA.

Ovo sa štitovima nije balansiranje nego krpanje. Samo dodaju module koje će kasnije nerfati buffati i dodavati probleme. Rješenje problema (ako uopće i postoji) nisu dodatni moduli koji će štiti ostale module i onda na to još modula koji će dodatno ojačati trup. Po meni čista glupost. Nek promjene statistiku modula i nek dodaju stvari poput da se u combatu može uništiti shield booster od neprijatelja te da se oni ne mogu popravljati u letu. A ne ovo.
"Drago nam je da ste proveli bezbrojne sate glumeči komunalnu službu u potrazi za materijalima za modove, nažalost to vam sada ništa ne vrijedi. Ali evo vam dodatni moduli pa glumite komunalce još malo s time da morate napraviti radikalne promjene na brodu".
Imam osjećaj da oni uvode ove "promjene" samo da bi skrenuli pozornost s toga koliko je ustvari igra dosadna. Ako se nešto ne promjeni uskoro, mislim da me "igra" više neće vidjeti. Ovo je zatupljujuće do bola.
Meni je bilo baš fora čitat žalopojke grindera po forumu i redditu. :D
Itekako je riječ o balance passu i itekako je potreban, samo što ovo sa štitovima neće proć u ovoj formi 100%.
Ja isto nisam dosta dugo palio Elitu, ono malo slobodnog vremena što imam sam utrošio na novi Doom (skroz dobar) i gledajuć Westworld (bolesno dobro). :)
Budući da nisam grinder nego casualac, igram je tu i tamo i kako mi se sprdne, ne vidim da će mi ED dojadit u dogledno vrijeme... (imam oko 700 sati). Ako nisi takav tip igrača ili te živcira, pa ostavi je na par mjeseci ili godinu, neće nikam' pobjeć. Iskreno mislim da je ED totalno casual igra i nikad neće biti ništa više od toga... mislim možeš probat PvPat ali to je tek leglo frustracija

- Committing a murder while in a fighter now results in being attacked by the Authority following a scan

- Add new strings explaining the success/failure of shield restore due to a ship reboot
Missions
- Fix the mission generation iteration limitor as it was preventing missions from spawning and thus decreasing board size
- Make sure that missions are properly transferred to the ship transactions panel after boarding from an SRV
- Fix for lack of Exquisite Focus Crystals as a mission reward

- Fix an accidental change that removed the delay before AI reboot-repair when their critical modules are damaged, this should now be 4-15 seconds as before
EDIT2:
A little background:
So, your ships starts with a base shield value, multiplied by the shield based on your hull mass all as before. Any modifiers from engineer modifications to the shield generator are also taken into account at this stage and will apply fully. the result of this I'll call the ships' Unmodified Health.
Boosters then come into effect, ignoring engineers for the moment, grade A shield boosters provide a 20% boost to this unmodified health, and they stack additively (so 4 A-grade will give a +80% boost). When these boosters get engineered the numbers are much higher - depending on how far into statistical extremity you want to go a single booster can provide up to about a 65% boost realistically (thought the limit is a little higher). Under current mechanics this means that your shield can be as high as: (Unmodified Health) * (1+(8*0.65)) = 6.2 times your Unmodified Health leading to shields in the many thousands.
What's new:
The diminishing returns we're adding are to this multiplier, diminishing returns kick in at about 80% (1.8 times Unmodified Health) and at infinity tends towards 150% (2.5 times Unmodified health). To continue the above example, that multiplier of 6.2 will drop to 2.467 (39.7% of what it was before). For the mathematically inclined, the exact formula is:
Init = Initial Shield Multiplier (in this case 6.2)
Final Shield Multiplier = Min ( Init, (1-e-0.7 * Init) * 2.5 )
This Final Shield Multiplier is then multiplied by your Unmodified Health to get your final health used in game.
Incidentally, while the exact formula won't be visible in game (at least for now), as part of these changes we are adding an extra set of stats to the internal panel that at least give you access to the current values (it'll be done in a more UI-friendly way in a future build).
(Ignore the empty data and missing Balance/etc stats below, that's just a side effect of me using a debug account that doesn't have a real savegame)

OK, thanks for all the responses so far. Remember to remain civil. There's no need for insults or attacks on people.
I've taken some time to go through your posts, and I wanted to make a few, quite important points:
IF YOU HAVEN'T ENGINEERED YOUR SHIP'S SHIELD BOOSTERS TO THE MAX, OR FITTED MORE THAN 4 STANDARD SHIELD BOOSTERS, YOUR BIG 3 SHIP IS BEING BUFFED
Diminishing returns kick in if you use 4 or more shield boosters, or two heavily engineered ones. If you use less, there will be no effect. However, all shield recharge times are being increased, with the largest shield generators getting the biggest benefit.
Here's an example:
Using an example of a high-end Corvette, and comparing it's stats on Live with a 7A generator against the health and recharge times under the new rules for the 3 most likely options, tracking how long it takes for the shield to reform after broken, and how long after that to reach full strength through normal regeneration.
Live: ~6000hp (approx), 750 second reform, 3000 second half-to-full.
7A Prismatic: 2916hp, 340 second reform, 860 seconds half-to-full.
Standard 7A: 2360hp, 170 second reform, 400 seconds half-to-full.
7C Biweave: 1843, 80 second reform, 100 seconds half-to-full.
In addition, your large ship will have a 10 or 15 percent increased to the base shield health.
And finally, the armour rating of your vessel has dramatically increased, meaning small, medium and large weapons all do less damage to your hull and modules. This includes seeker and dumbfire missiles, which never have high armour piercing (we’re actually a little concerned we may have made missiles too weak again).
HULL TANKING SHOULD BE VIABLE FOR YOUR BIG 3 SHIP
The big three should be able to hull tank significantly more effectively, because their modules are much better defended by armour rating increases. Additionally the big three all get military module slots, allowing them to fit more defensive modules, including module reinforcement packages. Of course, huge weapons are still extremely dangerous, but only the FDL and the big three get access to them.
THE FDL DOES NOT GAIN MUCH BENEFIT FROM THESE CHANGES (IT'S ACTUALLY RELATIVELY WORSE)
Totting up the results, the FDL does not gain the increased armour rating, meaning that smaller weapons still do the same damage they do on live. In fact, large weapons will actually do more damage to it, as they have had an armour piercing increase to scale partially for the big three. It cannot effectively stack shield boosters, significantly reducing its shield capability. It does not gain military slots, limiting its hull tanking ability. The FDL still has its speed, which is as it should be. It’s a deadly cannon, just slightly more glass-like.
WE DON'T WANT INVINCIBLE SHIPS
To be clear, we understand that no ship is actually invincible. However, we really don't think ships should be able to sit more or less impervious to enemies without cost. We’re not saying that this happens by default, but at the top end of engineering it becomes possible. We believe this is simply not healthy for the game. Spending a huge amount of effort should reward you with a kick- ship, not an undefeatable fortress. The big 3 are extremely powerful, kick- ships, but they’re still flyable by a single pilot, and not meant to withstand armadas on their own.
We think that these changes would actually better reflect the big three: terrifying threats and almost impervious to smaller vessels, but still vulnerable to attack from other powerful ships. Unless a small ship comes loaded for bear, we don't expect it to do much against the big three, and even when it does, it's still grossly overmatched.
THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT AND WILL NOT MAKE IT TO LIVE UNLESS TESTING REVEALS OVERWHELMINGLY GOOD RESULTS
I can't stress this one enough. We are fully aware that these are not trivial changes, and we're aware of the time and effort folk have put into building their dream ships. The way we see it, the onus is on the changes to prove that they are for the best rather than the current numbers prove they are worth keeping. So if it turns out that hull tanking still isn't measuring up, or some other issue presents, or that we all feel that it’s not working out for whatever reason, we'll simply be rolling back.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO TEST THIS EXPERIMENT
We can work out what the numbers mean in terms of statistics, but what we really need your help in doing is seeing how these changes play out in anger. Intangibles such as hit rates, player skill, load out choices, personal preference etc. all come into play in determining what the real world results will be. This is why we are really looking forward to getting feedback from the beta.

Taman sam si mislio engineerat neki jeftini PvP build pa se malo zezat s njim, samo što se ne mogu odlučit koji (small) brod da uzmem. :) Vjerojatno Couriera.
Ne znam kad bu to došlo na red doduše, u zadnjih par tjedana sam možda imao 3 sata za Elitu.
